5 of the most popular hatchbacks on the market

Hatchbacks, like most SUVs, meet both of these criteria better than most other models of cars, with a rear liftgate and readily available open cargo area. These vehicles also have the driving characteristics of a small car. So unless you’re hauling a family of five or going off-road, a hatchback will benefit you more than any other automobile with better fuel economy. Here are the five most desirable hatchbacks in 2022:

Kia Rio
The Kia Rio offers a low-cost, straightforward ride. This compact car provides excellent value for money because it is fuel efficient and reasonably priced. It also has a surprising number of driving refinement and features for the price. The Rio comes in sedan and hatchback body styles with abundant space in the back seat or cargo area.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are common components, and several driver-assistance characteristics are available as options. Now that many of its competitors, such as the Chevy Sonic, Honda Fit, and Toyota Yaris, have left the market, Rio is one of the last truly affordable new cars available.

Chevy Bolt EV
The newly designed 2022 Chevy Bolt EV not only looks more thrilling inside and out. It also has improved features and a lower asking price. While its futuristic designs and freshly refurbished cabin are the most significant differences, it retains a front-drive-only powertrain that provides near-instant acceleration.

Chevy estimates that the 2022 Bolt EV can travel up to 259 miles on a single charge. It puts it slightly ahead of the outstanding Hyundai Kona Electric, but it still is far short of the Tesla Model 3. On the other hand, the new Bolt’s affordable price, spacious interior, and rewarding driving dynamics are its strong selling points.

Honda Civic
Honda’s renowned compact car, i.e., the Civic, gets a major facelift for the 2022 prototype year, with a more mature appearance, extra features, and a refined cabin design. A combination of four-cylinder engines is available, including a twin-turbo 1.5-liter option; the front-wheel drive will remain standard, as Honda insists that all-wheel drive is not in the plans.

Updated technology features such as a bigger infotainment display, cordless smartphone interconnection, and improved driver-assistance features are all significant improvements that will help the Civic compete better in the market.

Hyundai Veloster N
The 2022 Hyundai Veloster N is fun to drive, with a 275-hp four-cylinder turbo engine that makes pleasing sounds and a chassis that evokes strong emotions. It’s also available with an enjoyable manual gearbox (unlike the new VW Golf R) or a rifle-action dual-clutch automatic gearbox (unlike the current Honda Civic Type R). While redesigned versions of the rear-drive Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 compete with the Veloster in terms of performance-per-dollar, the front-drive N challenges them in cargo and back-seat space.

Mazda3
The 2022 Mazda3 provides a premium service at a normal compact-car price for purchasers with champagne taste but only a sparkling-cider spending plan. It’s available as a sedan or a hatchback, with extra all-wheel drive, a powerful turbo motor, and enough upmarket features to compete with small Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes-Benz with its front-wheel drive and a foundation engine.

A hatchback is a good option if you need additional flexibility and cargo room but can’t afford a small SUV. Hatchbacks combine the best characteristics of a small crossover with better fuel economy and value-based pricing.
