SafeLink wireless offers three plans for monthly airtime and text messaging. Customers who qualify for SafeLink Wireless can avail free services from any of the three plans that offers up to 250 minutes of free calls and free texting (depending on the state one lives in).

Originally intended to be a lifeline support system in case of emergencies for people whose income is below federal poverty guidelines, the free services provided should be enough to serve its purpose. But it isn’t a nice thing to run out of minutes when it is some unavoidable circumstance. A customer can buy additional minutes after the free services are exhausted.

Where to buy the additional minutes from?
– By adding TracFone minutes to a SafeLink Phone: As SafeLink is a subsidiary of TracFone, a SafeLink customer can avail additional minutes similar to getting the TracFone prepaid services.
– More minutes can be bought online from the TracFone website: www.tracfone.com
– More minutes can be bought over phone by calling the SafeLink customer service number.
– Top-up can be done from a local retailer by buying a TracFone Airtime Card. There are over 70,000 retailers across USA from where TracFone minutes can be purchased. Some include Walmart, Target, Kmart, Radio Shack, Vons, Family Dollar, Dollar General, CVS, Rite Aid, etc.
– Four different packages of Airtime Cards are available on the SafeLink website. These packages allow customers to buy different number of minutes in each package. A form needs to be filled by following the prompts to get to Rapid Refill of additional minutes.

How to get the additional minutes?
Once the preferred Airtime Card is chosen, the customer has two ways to get his additional minutes.
– A customer can enter his cell phone number
– A customer can enter the serial number of the phone

Tips to get more minutes:
Additional Airtime and other benefits can be availed by finding some good TracFone promo codes which can be used for Airtime Card purchases (some are available on the TracFone site or other independent sites).
Do not use your cellphone to call any toll-free SafeLink customer service numbers because this consumes free minutes. Instead, using a landline to make these calls can be free of charge.
Make any Airtime Card purchases (TracFone or SafeLink) before 26th of each month in certain plans, so that the unused minutes can be carried over to the consecutive month.

What to do if the free minutes are not credited?
The monthly free minutes are credited to the customer’s phone via air transaction. However, if sometimes the 250 minutes may not get credited completely due to several reasons such as phone was turned off, low signal strength, out of your service area, etc. The procedure to get back these pending minutes varies from one phone to the other. If the procedure is wrongly done for more than three times, there are chances that the services will be disabled. Hence, it is advisable to call the customer care for any technical support.
