Causes and types of female jock itch

Jock itch is a fungal infection That infects the skin in groin area. It usually occurs in hot and humid condition. The medical term for female jock itch is tinea cruris. It occurs when moisture or sweat gets trapped in skin folds which allows the fungus to grow.

The condition worsens if the person has a dry skin or some kind of skin allergy.
  • Inverse psoriasis
    It is a type of chronic inflammatory skin condition. This type of female jock itch develops a thick plaque, resulting in the overgrowth of the skin. The skin rash due to inverse psoriasis is bright red in color, and has a shiny and a smooth texture.
  • Heat rash
    Heat rash is an infection that is caused by the blockage sweat glands. This results in the accumulation of sweat under the layers of the skin. The inability of excretion of sweat from the skin leads to heat rash.
  • Contact dermatitis
    This type of female jock itch is caused due to use of certain type of fabric, chemical exposure due to application of certain type of lotions, soaps, creams, and gels in the groin area. It is associated with rash and itching. Blisters may also appear in severe cases.
