The kidneys can be thought of as a filter that purifies our body by helping it get rid of the impure stuff from our body. But, even our kidneys are susceptible to damage. Here are some of the common kidney disorders that impair the normal functioning of our kidneys and mark the advent of innumerable health problems.

  • Chronic kidney disease- The most common kidney disorder that ails people is the chronic kidney disease. High blood pressure is where this disorder has lodged its roots. The increased pressure of the blood in the body damages the glomeruli, the blood vessels in the kidneys. The high pressure of the blood would cause the glomeruli to burst, which would bring the kidney’s function to a halt, thus, worsening the patient’s condition.
  • Kidney stones- Kidney stones are another common phenomenon that ails a majority of the male population. These “stones” are the minerals and other substances are crystallized in the kidneys. Though it doesn’t cause severe problems, it is quite painful when these stones exit your body through urine. Though it might not be considered as life-threatening, it does cause excruciating pain.
  • Polycystic kidney disease- There are instances when certain cysts appear in your kidneys; however, they are quite harmless. But, polycystic kidney diseases is a genetic disorder that is more harmful than the usual cysts. This disorder causes the small cysts to grow in the kidneys and interferes with the function of the kidney which in turn can result in kidney failure.
  • Glomerulonephritis- This is a condition which affects the glomeruli, the tiny blood vessels in the kidneys. It causes inflammation of the glomeruli which obstructs the functioning of the kidneys. It may be caused due to infections or drugs.

These are the most common kidney disorders that can affect almost anyone. Medical treatment is advised when you are diagnosed with any of the above mentioned kidney disorders.
